Kesenjangan Upah antar Gender di Indonesia pada Masa Pandemi COVID-19
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Indonesia had experienced a gender gap in earnings. However, the COVID-19 pandemic that occurred in 2020 has the potential to deepen the gap due to disproportionate impact between genders. Previous studies found that the gender wage gap in Indonesia cannot be explained by observable characteristics, both in terms of human capital characteristics or types of work, but that there is a greater contribution from unobservable factors to the gender wage gap that occurs. Using pooled cross-sectional data from SAKERNAS August 2019 and 2020, this study analyses the influence of unobservable factors, where there are indications of discrimination, on the gender wage gap during COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition method to perform a large decomposition of the effects of the explained and unexplained gaps on the gender wage gap. The results show that during the pandemic, there is a slight increase in gender wage gap and the unexplained gap still plays a major role in determining the gender wage gap in Indonesia. Based on the employment sector, this study found that the pandemic that occurred in 2020 had an impact in the form of a decrease in the wages of workers, both in the formal and informal sectors. Furthermore, the sticky floor phenomenon has consistently occurred during the pandemic.Ada Tabel
