Pengaruh Instrumen Kebijakan Moneter dan Makroprudensial terhadap Kesehatan Perbankan Islam: Studi Kasus Bank Islam di Negara Muslim

Tika Arundina Aswin, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Pembimbing/Promotor) - ; Rachmanto, Irfan Bagus - ;

The challenges of the Islamic banking industry in the aftermath global financial crisis in 2008 triggered Islamic banks to survive in the face of central bank policy intervention in restoring and creating financial system stability. Through its authority, the central bank carries out a series of monetary policies and macroprudential policies to control the financial system. This then raises the question of how monetary policy and macroprudential policy affect the soundness of Islamic banking. Thus, this study examines the effect of monetary policy and macroprudential policy instruments on Islamic banking soundness in 44 Islamic banks in several Muslim countries for the period 2008?2018. This study uses the multiple linear regression method of unbalanced panel data with the selection of a fixed-effects model as the specification of the research model. In order to simplify the data processing and provide results that are able to represent a set of bank?s financial performance, the Banking Soundness Index (BSI) was constructed as the dependent variable. Based on the previous literature study, to see the two different effects of two different policies on the dependent variable, two research models were compiled, each containing only monetary policy instruments and macroprudential policy instruments as independent variables with other supporting control variables. The results of this study indicate that all policy instruments of the two research models simultaneously have a significant effect on BSI. For monetary policy, the money base instrument shows a negative correlation with the BSI, while the broad money instrument has a positive correlation. For macroprudential policy, only the tightening policy instrument for reserve requirements has a positive correlation with the BSI. The results of this study are expected to provide an overview to regulators and the private sector to be taken into consideration in making decisions relating to both policies and the Islamic banking industry.Ada Tabel
