Analyze how competitive environments influence employees' ability to manage role ambiguity, role conflict, and family-work conflict. The research, conducted in a large U.S. retail chain, reveals that competitive climates can mitigate the negative impact of role ambiguity on job efficacy and strengthen the link between job satisfaction and supervisor-rated performance. Employees in high-competition settings demonstrated greater resilience to stressors, suggesting that competition may foster adaptive behaviors. However, the study acknowledges limitations, including its single-organization focus, and calls for broader research to generalize findings. Practical implications highlight the need for managers to balance competition with support, ensuring stressors do not undermine employee well-being while leveraging competitive dynamics to enhance performance.
