Text
It has been increasingly recognized in recent years that industrial development is the best strategy that a developing country can adopt to achieve rapid economic progress. It has also been recognized that a key to rapid industrialization can be found in a country’s progress in technological capability. The term technology is commonly used to mean a collection of production techniques, know-how and skills which transform inputs into outputs. Thus, industrial technology is the practical application of technological knowledge in producing marketable goods. Technological capabilities include the ability to acquire (or select) imported or indigenous technologies, assimilate or adapt new technologies, disseminate new technical knowledge, and improve existing production processes and develop new technologies through investment in research and development (R&D).
