Pengaruh standar minimum kecukupan modal bank terhadap penyaluran kredit bank Indonesia (1999 - 2005)
Banks hold a certain amount of excess capital to protect themselves from the adjustment cost of issuing capital as well as from a sudden change in the capital requirement. In Indonesia, banks started to hold excess capital after the 1997 crisis when the capital adequacy requirement started to become effective. This thesis investigates how excess capital affects the effectiveness of the monetary transmission mechanism through the ?bank lending channel? as well as how it affects banks? response to a change in GDP. Based on a sample of 113 Indonesian banks over the period 1999-2005 using the pooled least square method with fixed effect model, the results indicate that the effect of excess capital on the ?bank lending channel? in Indonesia is positive and significant, but it does not have any effect on banks? response to a change in GDP.
