Pengaruh ekspansi perkebunan kelapa sawit terhadap deforestasi hutan tropis Sumatra dan Kalimantan antara 1996 - 2004

I Dewa Gede Karma Wisana (Pembimbing/Promotor) - ; Yulli Alfira - ;

This study aims to identify and estimates the effects of palm oil expansions on deforestation of tropical forest in Sumatera and Kalimantan Island, between 1996-2004. These effects are classified into four main causes; factors of income per capita and population growths, factors of forest accessibility, factors of palm oil farming structures, and factors of institutional/policy of Indonesia?s government. Data about deforestation used is proxy of land forest covered. All data used in this study are secondary data. Methodology used is least squared regression of panel data 12 provinces with amount series of time nine. Preferred approach to estimate this data panel is Random Effect. The results of this study shows the factors of income per capita and population growth have no effect to deforestation in 12 provinces in Sumatera and Kalimantan. The factor of forest accessibility with proxy length of roads has no effect too to deforestation. Both results may raised by shorten the series of time were used. The factors of palm oil farming structures show result effect to deforestation rate significantly. The incerases of production of palm oil and domestic price of CPO will increase rate of deforestation. But productivity of palm oil land as proxy of land intensification has no effect to deforestation. The factors of institutional/policy of Indonesia?s government show significantly positive effect to deforestation. Every raising of realization reforestation, that propose to reduce deforestation, will increase deforestation rate. Athough this results need further study, from its we may predict, there is inefficiency and ineffectivity of realization reforestation program by Indonesia?s government. Therefore, this study suggest Indonesia?s government must to concern about quality of reforestation programs despite of its quantity.Ada tabel
