Analisis pengaruh perubahan nilai tukar mata uang terhadap kinerja bank umum konvensional di Indonesia berdasarkan analisis Camels periode tahun 2002-2008

The focus of this study is the effect of exchange rate movement and also some other macroeconomic variables to commercial conventional bank performance in Indonesia. Banking industry, as one of sectors that often deals with foreign currency transactions, its performance is determined could be effected by exchange rate movement. Beside exchange rate, there are some other macroeconomic variables that is determined could also effect bank performance, such as inflation, interest rate, and money supply. Bank performance, in this study, is determined based on analysis of CAMELS financial ratios that have been commonly used in measuring bank financial condition and performance in the world that also has been defined in banking regulation in Indonesia. Financial factors that are analyzed in CAMELS analysis are capital adequacy, asset quality, management quality, earnings ability, liquidity, and sensitivity to market risks. In this study, it is concluded that in some of commercial conventional banks in Indonesia, which are Bank Mandiri, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Central Asia (BCA), Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) and Bank Danamon Indonesia, the effect of exchange rate movement and also other macroeconomic variables? changes to bank financial performance are not same in one bank to another. This difference depends on composition of asset and liabilities in domestic and foreign currency and also means that bank financial performance does not depend on one or some certain variables but also the interaction of some different condition and variables.Ada tabel
