Analisis pengaruh struktur pasar terhadap tingkat profitabilitas pada industri ritel modern di Indonesia : studi kasus perusahaan ritel modern yang go-public
This dissertation examines the form of market competition that incurred in the period of the year 1997 to 2007, as well as discuss about the effect of market structure toward the level of profitability in the Modern Retail Industry in Indonesia; knowing that during that period, the changing in the Modern Retail is so extensive that results in the changing of the market structure and the performance. This research is a quantitative research that using data process to find out the form of market competition and using regression of the panel data-with fixed effect approach-to understand the effect of market structure toward the level of performance. The result of this research shows that the form of market competition of Modern Retail Industry in Indonesia at general is high oligopoly which incurred in the period starting at the second quarter of the year of 1997 until the year of 2007. Besides that, this research shows that the market structure positively and significantly affects toward the level of profitability of Modern industry in Indonesia, which actually about concentration ratio and market share. Moreover, it is found that, statistically, the growth of sale and policy significantly affects the level of profitability although the effect is weak. And then, it is also found that the cycle of total asset that is used as the variable toward level of profitability has no significant effect. Therefore, the policy that can be used to increase the profitability is by increasing the efficiency of the Modern Retail industry trough economies of scale; It is a method to increase the profit by reducing the operation expenses.Ada tabel
