Studi komparasi X-efisiensi dalam industri perbankan Syariah Indonesia dan Malaysia melalui stochastic frontier approach (SFA) tahun 2002-2007
This empirically study investigates the X-efficiency cost (technical and allocative) of islamic bank industry in Indonesia and Malaysia. The study used the basic Stochastic Frontier Approach (SFA). This is accomplished by decomposing the error term into two components, namely random noise (vi) and possible inefficiency (ui). The empirical results showed that the Indonesia Islamic banking industry has a higher X-efficiency score compare to the Malaysian Islamic banking industry over the 2002-2007 period. The findings show that, on average, the allocative efficiency of the islamic banking industry in Indonesia has a better score than Malaysian Islamic banking industry. It means that the X-inefficiency in the Malaysian Islamic banks could be more associated incorrect input combinations. However, the result of this study showed that the technical efficiency score of indonesian islamic banking industry is statistically indefference compare to the Malaysian. The study also reveals that larger bank size (by assets) and greater profitability are associated with better X-efficiency.Ada tabel
