Pengaruh kepemilikan asing terhadap kinerja Bank Umum di Indonesia periode 2004 - 2008
After the financial crisis in 1997, some of domestic banks in Indonesia were owned by foreign investor. Due to the need to stabilize and restructure the financial sector after the Asia financial crisis in 1998, let the government of Indonesia to divest assets of some domestic banks to foreign investors. This condition made greater foreign ownership in Indonesian banking sector, in addition to the branch of foreign bank and joint-venture bank. The phenomenon of greater foreign ownership in Indonesian banking industry is interesting to be examined. This thesis examines the impact of foreign ownership on the performance of domestic bank in Indonesia. This research applied panel data of 119 indonesian banks over the period 2004-2008. Estimation using random effect could be applied to examined the impact of foreign ownership on three performance indicators, which are loan to deposit ratio (LDR), interest rate spread (IRS), and operational expense (OE). The findings on this research are the foreign ownership associated positively with the loan to deposit ratio, negatively with interest rate spread and operational expense of Indonesian banks.Ada tabel
