The impact of climate change on fishing effort for marine fisher in Indonesia : A case study in Muara Angke Fishing Village - North Jakarta
The issue of climate change has grown bigger for last several years. Threats are to all sectors, including to seas and sector of fishery. To fishery sector, climate change is predicted to affect in some ways. One of them is through increasing in frequency and magnitude of extreme weather events such as tidal surge and extreme wind event. This study is intended to see what climate change through extreme weather events bring towards fishing effort of marine fishers in Muara Angke area. It is a combination of primary data and secondary data. Primary data is gathered through marine fishers working at Muara Angke area. The study found that most fishers realized changing weather condition and weather condition plays part in influencing their decision of fishing. From two extreme weather events used to describe climate change, only tidal surge that influence fishing effort of marine fishers and it turned out that increasing tidal surge does not decrease their effort in fishing. One reason that may explain is dependency of fishers? income on the amount of their fish catch. Because through random interview, it was known that to them, decreasing fishing effort means decreasing the probability of getting higher catch. Thus, defines their income.Ada tabel
