Analisis effisiensi industri kendaraan bermotor dan komponennya di Indonesia tahun 2000 - 2006
The problem in motor vehicle and its component industry in Indonesia is the increasing ratio of labor cost compare with output and decreasing labor productivity during 2000-2006. Based on this problem, the efficiency score in this industry is estimated to decrease. This inefficiency is estimated because of unproductive labor. The increasing of labor proportion will raise the output but in a lower proportion only, which defined as decreasing returns to scale. This research aims to analyze this efficiency. Analysis with data envelopment analysis (DEA) method will discover the efficiency score, the source of inefficiency, and the returns to scale condition in this industry. The DEA input consist of the number of labor and the electricity used (as a proxy of capital), however the DEA output is a value added. The results from this research proves that, by using DEA method, the efficiency level of the motor vehicle and its component industry tend to decrease during 2000-2006. This decline is due to the inefficiency in capital used more than the amount of labor. Furthermore, the number of firms categorized as an increasing returns to scale is more than a constant and decreasing returns to scale.Ada tabel
