The impact of cultural distance on the variance of greenfield operations
This paper aims to investigate the influence of cultural distance in the way different greenfields operate. It is argued that cultural distances lead to differences in greenfield operations that hint a greater variety of actual greenfield sites that is not reflected in current IB literature. The case study used is the Swedish company ABB that operate two of their greenfield sites in Poland and China. This paper will describe the connection between cultural dimension index and the company strategies on the greenfield operation. As a result, this paper will demonstrate how the different operation of greenfield caused by the cultural distance will result on the variance of greenfield..
