The role of venture capital in the born - global companies
The likelihood for a firm to become born-global can be determined by the structure of industry in which it operates. Previous studies has mentioned some variables of the industry structure, one of them is level of venture capital in an industry. This paper argued that the level of venture capital is not an appropriate variable because it is not an absolute requisite for firms to become born-globals. Its role can be replaced through the use of other strategies. A lot of small born-global companies use collaborative partnership and client followership instead of venture capitalists to help them gain resources to internationalize faster. This paper, moreover, argues that a more appropriate variable would be ?the level of network complexity in an industry?..
