Pengaruh instituasi terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi dan investasi asing langsung Asia Tenggara
South East Asian is a region where countries with various level of economic achievement. While Singapore experience high level of national income per capita, other countries, such as Cambodia and Myanmar still find out the way to enhance their prosperity. Besides, Singapore also appears as the highest capital inflow among countries in South East Asia. This phenomenon reveals the fact that the country does not need to have abundant natural and human resources to excel economic performance. In this case, factors that have been acknowledged as economic growth, such as innovation, education, economies of scale, capital accumulation, and others, are not sources of economic growth, but the growth itself. Fundamental explanation for differences in economic performances is differences in institutional factor. Institution is defined as rule of games in a society or, more formally, are the humanly devised constraint that shape human interaction. It implies to structure incentives in human exchange, whether political, social, or economic. This research aims to prove whether institutional factors affect national income per capita and investment level. In this research, institutional factors are defined as two variables which are political rights and rule of law. It employs governance indicator published by World Bank for rule of law variables and Gastil indices for political rights. The data used are South East Asia countries within 2002 to 2011 excluding Myanmar for its unavailability. The result shows that political rights closed is positively statistically significant in influencing economic growth while foreign direct investment is only influenced by rule of law. The limitation of this paper is time coverage while its only encompass 10 years observation.Ada tabel
