Schooling in Indonesia : factors influencing the ages of enrolment
This Paper explores the issues of the non-standard ages of enrolment in Indonesia. It highlights the influence of structural features of the school system and student's socioeconomic background on the ages of enrolment. The Study found that the majority of students enrol at the non-standard ages and their proportions vary across different education level between 1996 and 2003. The Multivariate analysis confirms the significant roles of socioeconomic backgrounds of the likehood of below and above the standar ages enrolment. This study also points indirect influence of the school system from the small differences of the likehood of enrolling at above the standard age across economic status..
