Keinginan Beralih Menuju Perbankan Syariah di Indonesia: Analisis Switching Cost Terhadap Biaya Layanan Perbankan

Suresa, Raka Ahmad - ; Ebi Junaidi, S.E., M.F.M. (Pembimbing/Promotor) - ;

Indonesia is a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, but the penetration rate of Islamic banks is still low. To increase this penetration through potential segments, one option that can be done by Islamic banks is to attract customers from conventional services by lowering switching costs. The purpose of this study is to identify how much the transaction service costs that customers want so that they want to switch from conventional banking to Islamic banking. In addition, this study also wants to see customer segmentation based on their perception of price. The method used to assess the price that someone wants to pay is the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) analysis, with a double-bounded dichotomous choice approach. The assessment will focus on monthly administration fees, interbank transfer fees, and ATM transaction fees, which are fees generally charged to retail banking customers. The analysis was carried out on 476 samples which were divided into sub samples of users of Islamic banks, conventional banks, and both types of banks. The findings show that the average WTP in the sub-sample of conventional banks is below the value in the first offer for the four types of fees, while the average WTP of the sub-sample of Islamic banks is above the value in the first offer. For users of both types of banks, only the administration fee is above the value of the first offer, the rest shows a desire for lower fees. Socio-demographic factors have different effects for each type of cost in each sub-sample. Meanwhile, the rationalist customer segment has the largest percentage, which is above 60% for each service fee for respondents using conventional banks. The results of this study are expected to contribute to Islamic banks as a basis for implementing the right pricing strategy in order to win the banking market share..Ada Tabel
