Analisis Kausalitas Pertumbuhan Infrastruktur Terhadap FDI: Studi Kasus ASEAN-6 Tahun 1981 - 2019
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) requires traction in order for different countries to provide their capital in a country. Various factors greatly affect the climate of a country, both in terms of economy, politics and society. This study explores the causal, linear and nonlinear relationship between the level of direct investment inflows (FDI) and infrastructure (transport, telecommunications, and energy sectors) in the ASEAN 6 region (Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam). Granger causality and Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) were used in testing the cointegration approach; shows the existence of a long-term bidirectional causality between structural infrastructure (sectoral and aggregate) and FDI (sectoral and aggregate), while Nonlinear ARDL confirms the long-run asymmetry in this relationship. The results of this study indicate that sectoral and aggregate infrastructure are important for increasing FDI inflows (sectoral and aggregate) in the ASEAN 6 region, both in the short and long term. In addition, the bidirectional relationship also shows similar results, namely increasing FDI is very important to increase infrastructure growth. The researcher found the Transportation Infrastructure (TINX) and Communication (CINX) variables as the variables that most influence aggregate FDI Inflow using multiple regression. An interesting fact, in the case of ASEAN 6, the control variable Human Capital (HC) has a greater influence than Trade Openness (TO).
