Penuaan Penduduk dan Ketimpangan Pendapatan Regional di Indonesia: Analisis Spasial Pulau Jawa
Aging population is one of the phenomena that is being faced by Indonesia where the proportion of the elderly population to population increases. One of the social and economic consequences of aging population is the widening of income inequality. This study aims to empirically examine the impact of aging population on income inequality by considering the spatial location aspect in Indonesia. This study uses panel data from 119 cities and regencies in Java Island during the period of 2010 to 2020 using GLS with random-effects regression and Spatial Autoregressive (SAR) methods. The result of this study shows that aging population has a significant impact on increasing income inequality in cities and regencies in Java Island. This study also finds that there is a positive and strong spatial clustering in the level of inequality between cities and regencies in Java Island. Thus, aging population that occurs in a city/regency will also affect the level of inequality of the neighbouring city/regency. This study provides recommendations for communities and local governments at the end of the section..Ada Tabel
