Pengaruh Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP) terhadap Pekerja Anak di Indonesia Sebelum dan Saat Pandemi COVID-19
Working can threaten children’s growth because many child labors become the victims of discrimination and exploitation, have health problems, and forced to leave schools. Indonesian government has made various efforts to reduce child labors, one of which is by making conditional cash transfer programs. The conditional cash transfer program analyzed in this study is Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP), a program aimed at increasing school participation of children from poor households which in the long run is expected to attract children to leave labor market. This study analyzes the effect of PIP on the likelihood of children working and compares the effect of PIP before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data used in this study were collected from the Survei Sosial Ekonomi Nasional (SUSENAS) in 2019 and 2021 with a sample of 170,034 children aged 10-17 in Indonesia and a subsample of 21,051 children aged 10-17 from poor households. Statistical test results using the difference-in-difference (DID) method showed that PIP had a significantly negative influence on the chances of children working in Indonesia both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, in the subsample of poor households, a greater PIP impact was found before the pandemic than during the pandemic..Ada Tabel
