Ibu di Pekerjaan Profesional dan Non-Profesional: Dekomposisi Kesenjangan Upah Ibu berdasarkan Jenis Pekerjaan di Indonesia
The issue of the motherhood wage gap is one of the main contributors that widen the gender wage gap. To analyse the motherhood wage gap, it is important to consider the characteristics of the occupations because different occupations require different skills and provide different privileges, labor rights, and demands for workloads. Using SAKERNAS 2020 data, this study analyses motherhood wage gap in professional (white-collar) and non-professional (grey-collar and blue-collar) occupations. The Oaxaca Blinder and RIF-Oaxaca decomposition methods were used to see the size of the gap and the different patterns formed between different types of occupations (between groups) and different wage quintiles for the same occupations (within groups). The results of this study indicate that motherhood wage gap is less likely to occur in white-collar jobs (professional) compared to gray-collar and blue-collar jobs (non-professional). The gap that occurs is largely due to differences in productivity and characteristics between mothers and non-mothers in the workplace. In addition, there is sticky wage phenomenon or the smaller the quintile of the wage distribution, the larger the wage gap will be in grey-collar jobs.
