Pengaruh Diversifikasi Pendapatan dan Cross-Border Banking terhadap Tingkat Risiko dan Tingkat Pengembalian Bank: Studi Empiris Industri Perbankan di Wilayah ASEAN, Jepang, dan Korea Selatan Periode 2011-2020
This study aims to examine the effect of cross-border banking on revenue diversification and the effect of those two variables on the bank risk and return. This study uses a sample of 142 commercial banks listed in the stock exchanges of ASEAN region countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Philippines as well as Japan and South Korea in the 2011-2020 period. This study measures revenue diversification with two types, that is diversification across revenue income and diversification within non-interest income. By using the Fixed Effect Model and Two-Step System Generalized Method of Moments, this study shows that cross-border banking increases diversification within non-interest income but decreases diversification across revenue income. However, this study did not find a significant effect of cross-border banking on the bank return. Finally, diversification within non-interest income increases the bank risk and reduce the bank return. The results of this study provide insight; thus, banks can consider cross-border banking activities and income diversification to maximize their profits..Ada Tabel
