Indonesian seaweed cluster : In local economic development
National economic development based on local economic development, has changed Indonesia from an agrarian nation to an industrialized nation. The globalization trend which will penetrate national boundaries, requests any business more open without isolating from the outside world. Therefore, the competition between markets and products will happen in terms of quality and price. The Development of seaweed industry is an extension of an agribusiness oriented, in which every sub-sector in the agribusiness chain must be going on compatibly, starting from the agroindustry until the market sector, which products should be able to compete due to support from a tight quality control. The strategy development of seaweed industry in facing the global market is to develop strengths in every agribusiness sub sector by giving technological inputs, increasing the ability of human resources, creating joint venture between business agents, as well as obtaining support from central and local governments through creation of constructive policies and conductive business environment.
