Masculinity and Management Education: Feminizing the MBA

Simpson, Ruth - ;

Drawing on recent work on critical management education (CME), I explore the masculinity of the MBA and call for a "feminization" of course content and design. The masculinity of the MBA is considered through the emphasis on "hard" skills (culturally associated with masculinity) and through its influence on three key areas: the values of management, the subjectivity of the manager, and the performance of the managerial role.Printed Journal
