Hard day's work: a boon for performance but a bane for satisfaction?

McFarlin, Dean B. - ;

Markus Christen and David Soberman of INSEAD and Ganesh Iyler of the University of California at Berkeley take on the topic of the link between job satisfaction and performance in a recent Journal of Marketing article, arguing that the ambiguity in the literature remains because researchers have often failed to define job performance precisely (in some cases confusing effort and performance). They also point out that previous studies have simply failed to take into account a variety of other factors that could shape the connection between effort, job performance, and job satisfaction.Printed Journal
