Crossing the digital divide: do all global citizens have their passports?

Santora, Joseph C. - ;

A new study by Mauro Guillen of the University of Pennsylvania and Sandra Suarez of Temple University explores the extent to which a country's status in the world and its degree of development - advanced (core), developing (periphery), and undeveloped (semi-periphery) might impact Internet usage across countries. They also examined how the ownership of Internet providers in a country, the extent of competition in delivery of local telephone service, level of democracy, and cosmopolitanism (i.e., the extent that a nation's citizens travel abroad) might impact Internet usage.Printed Journal
