Persaingan perguruan tinggi Indonesia: a losers' game
Tempo magazine survey of users and recruiters from December 2006 to January 2007 reported that University of Indonesia (UI) was rated the best university in Indonesia by users, followed by ITB, UGM, IPB, and ITS. How should we view this survey? First, we should not regard it as a comprehensive and through assessment and evaluation of the quality of the Indonesian universities and institutes as there is no assessment of input, process, and facilities. Second, competition among Indonesian universities and institutes is more like a losers' game than a winners' game. A winners' game is like a professional game in sport, where the winner is the party with the better strategy and techniques. Points are earned through excellence because the winner performs better than the opponent. Conversely, in a losers' game; it is like an amateur game, where points of victory are obtained through opponent's own mistakes. In a losers' game, the party with fewer mistakes will be the winner.Printed Journal
