Will practitioners benefit from meta-analysis?
Meta-analysis is a valuable research tool that has disciplined scientific discourse in many areas. Given the association of Profession Hunter with the development of meta-analysis, the failure of Le et al to provide any indications of the variability or uncertainty of their numerous estimates is puzzling. The author remains thoroughly skeptical of Le et al's findings for reasons that have nothing to do with statistical uncertainty or the use of meta-analysis. The skepticism arises from weak evidence and vague assumptions under-girding their estimates, questionable survey methods, and the absence of convincing external validation..Printed Journal
