Academic-practitioner collaboration need not require joint or relevant research: toward a relational scholarship of integration
This article discusses how to develop a relational scholarship of integration in management research that is productive for both practitioners and management scholars. We need to stop thinking about research, event relevant research, as the primary way that academics and practitioners join together and collaborate. One way to expand possibilities for academic-practitioner relationships is through Boyer's scholarship of integration. The most frequent means of creating academic-practitioner relationships is through engaged scholarship, or collaborative research. Structures that may foster the building of academic-practitioner relationships are: 1. boundary spanning, 2. forums to flesh out journal articles' implications for practice, 3. forums to discuss topics about which there is shared interest among academics and practitioners.Printed Journal
