Form Follows Function? Interorganizational Networks as A Strategic Imperative for Global Strategies

The main goal of any global strategy must be to manage the large differences that arise at borders, whether those borders are defined geographically or otherwise . . . Not all integration that is required to add value across borders needs to occur within a single organization. IBM and other firms illustrate that some externalization is a key part of most ambitious global strategies. (Ghemawat, 2007: 67).
