Toward organizational behavior

Cummings, L.L. - ;

Organizational behavior is the study of individuals and groups and the interactions between individuals within the organization, with organizational characteristics being constant. Organizational behavior can be defined in terms of 3 factors. First, it is a way of thinking, with respect to problem analysis procedures. Second, it is a body of models and facts concerning motivation, group dynamics, and commmunications. Finally, it is a series of technologies for such activities as training, designing tasks, and rewarding behavior. There are 3 basic themes in influencing organizational behavior. The first is existentialism, which is the idea that given certain environmental conditions, an individual must use self control to obtain his own objectives. The second influence is operationalism, either from the environment or people within the organization. The final influencing theme is neo-behavioralism. Figures.Hardcopy
