Deskripsi
This study aims to analyze the effect of spending on arisan, also known as Rotating Savings and Credit Associations (ROSCAs), participation on the level of household loans and the level of basic consumption (dharuriyat) to fulfill the daily needs of muslim households in Indonesia. This study used cross-sectional data from the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) 5 2014 with a sample of Muslim households in Indonesia who participate in ROSCAs and have household loans. This study is quantitative research using OLS regression method. The results of this study showed that spending on ROSCAs participation can reduce the level of loans owned by Muslim households in Indonesia so that it can further suppress and minimize the possibility for Muslim households to make household loans outside the ROSCAs which have an interest and switch to make loans in ROSCAs with the tabarru’ (help) principle and free interest. Meanwhile, other factors that can affect the level of muslim household loans in Indonesia include marital status, education, and number of household members. In addition, participation in ROSCAs also increase the fulfillment of basic consumption levels (dharuriyat) both for food consumption expenditure and clothing consumption expenditure by muslim households in Indonesia in meeting daily living needs so that it can have implications for improving the welfare households and the level of strength of food security owned by muslim households in Indonesia. There are also other factors that influence the level of dharuriyat consumption of muslim households in Indonesia, such as income, age, marital status, education, and number of household members.
