Analisis Pengaruh Faktor Perilaku terhadap Kecenderungan Berutang melalui Fintech Lending (Buy Now Pay Later) pada Generasi Z di Indonesia

The growth of online loans in Indonesia is now increasing rapidly, one of which is the use of fintech lending Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL). Based on Fintech Lending Statistics recorded by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the number of outstanding individual loans for the period January 2021 to August 2022 continues to increase. and is dominated by the 19-34 year age group, namely Generation Z and Millennial Generation. This research focuses on the factors that influence the tendency to owe through fintech lending (BNPL) in Generation Z in Indonesia. Researchers used Behavioral Factors in developing hypotheses, which consisted of the variables financial literacy, materialism, emotion, and perceived risk as a substitute for perceived behavioral control. Researchers also add one additional factor taken from previous research, namely compulsive buying which is one of the popular theories in analyzing individual behavior in making loans. These factors will be analyzed using the PLS-SEM method. The sample in this study consisted of 330 individuals aged between 17-25 years (generation Z), domiciled in Indonesia, and had used Buy Now Pay Later loan transactions with the aim of avoiding bias. The results of this study indicate that the variables in the Behavioral Factors, namely financial literacy, emotions, and perceived risk have a significant effect on the tendency to owe through fintech lending (BNPL). This study also uses one additional variable, namely compulsive buying which also has a positive and significant effect on the tendency to owe through fintech lending (BNPL).
