Analisis Pengaruh Kualitas Institusi terhadap Tingkat Pengembalian Inovasi Perusahaan Manufaktur Negara Berkembang di ASEAN
This study will discuss the effect of innovation on firm’s rate of return as measured by the level of sales per worker. After the effect is determined, an analysis will be carried out regarding the influence of institutional quality on the level of firm’s returns through innovative actions taken. The sample in this research are manufacturing companies from 6 ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos) with the 2015 World Bank Enterprise Survey (WBES) as main data source, while World Governance Indicator (WGI) and Heritage Foundation complements the data. Through the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) model, the results show that there is a significant effect of innovation activities on the rate of return for the firms. Further findings show that there is a significant effect of one institutional variable on the rate of return on corporate innovation, namely the rule of law. Two other institutional variables tested, namely regulatory quality and property rights protection, did not show a significant effect on the rate of return of firm’s innovation.
