Assessing the performance of islamic insurance firms in Indonesia : does life insurance differ from general insurance
Deskripsi
This paper contributes to the insurance literature that remains widely unexplored. Our contribution is twofold. First, we assess whether life insurance and general insurance firms in the islamic (sharia) insurance market perform differently in term of profitability and market share. In this regard, to our knowledge, this paper is the first to compare the performance of sharia life insurance and sharia general insurance. Second, we assess whether the link between sharia insurance and performance measures is also affected by firms-specific factors, such as capital ratio, leverage, overhead cost, solvency/and size of total assets.
