Safety needs is one of the basic needs that must be fulfilled to prevent all of threats, including property crimes. The preventation can be through the realization of Maqashid Syariah, especially for family-community and wealth protection by strengthening the solidarity on social capital which results in guardianship. UUD 1945 also mandates a sense of security in society. However, property crimes with the dominance of theft in Indonesia are still multidimensional problems that create high costs for society regardless of socioeconomic aspects. This indicates that there is a conceptual and reality gap, so this study aims to see how the real role of social capital on the risk of theft victimization through using Susenas in 2014. Social capital indicators include trust & tolerance, reciprocity, and participation. The logistic regression results and Routine Activity theory show that trust significantly reduce victimization. Meanwhile, the insignificance of other indicators is due to the weakening of informal social control based on the assumption of Social Disorganization theory. The results generally support the argument that social capital is significant in reducing property crime victimization. The not significant result of certain proxies requires further efforts from society in order to create a sense of security in life.Ada Tabel
