Resilience Factors and Strategies of Hotel Industry in Indonesia During Pandemic
Pandemic hits hotel business badly. Through narrative analysis, this study aims to discuss what kind of resilient factors and strategies shown by hotel industry in several places in Indonesia during the pandemic After massive vaccination and optimism in the industry, resilience factor is required for hotel business from individual side (employees, management, and hotel owners should have and develop the five sizes of resilience) and community factors (emphasize the importance of developing a collective hospitality strategy, preventing monopolistics practices, an building an industry). Other strategies needed including reviewing the long-term business plan (predict what the outlook), construct safeguard of monthly occupancy (keep hotel occupancy), create grass-root confidence (build trust of employees and all stakeholders), discover innovative tactics and flexible strategies (required to make innovative tactics), and sharpen negotiation skill (particularly for business obligations). Hotel business can follow any innovative tactics, such as working-from-hotel package, offering partial hotel products, and co-branding with survival business.
