Assessing the Russian-Turkish Military Relationship in thr Eastern Mediterranean: A Case of Syrian War
Having Turkey as one of Russia's close military partners in the Eastern Mediterranean has become an interesting topic in the current world issue. This is because of the common interest of both countries in one of the on-going armed conflict in the region which is the Syrian war. Indeed, this close relation has caused a growing rift between Turkey and its Western allies especially regarding the technical military cooperation with Russia. It can be seen through the removal of Turkey in the F-35 program by the U.S. Although it is announced to be tentative considering on several reasons, in the short to mid-term, however, Russia and Turkey are to be seen tighten a closer military and defense relation knowing that both countries have involved in several joint programs in the Eastern Mediterranean. This article aims to explains the advanced military relations of Russia and Turkey that succeed to threaten the Western power on the Syria's battlefield. All the findings of this research is based on several secondary data through literature studies as well as providing some primary data from the official websites of the actor's government.
