In recent years, Donald Trump has emerged as one of the most controversial figures that often suprised many scholars and world leaders due to his statements and decisions in the U.S foreign policy. As Joseph Nye posits, Trump's behaviour and its role as President cannot be easily dismissed in the U.S. foreign policy discourse. Having said that, this article aims to analyze Trump's idiosyncratic factors and understand his role in U.S foreign policy under his administration . By using the Jerrold's Post's Political Profiling under qualitative method, this article explores the idiosyncratic factors of Donald Trump consisted of his personal background, his political personality, his worldview, and his leadership in U.S bureaucracy to understand Trump's life course that shape his key political attitudes in the U.S. foreign policy. This article found several main findings. First, Trump's background in business and military shaped him to be an ambitious and aggresive person, which led him to lead U.S. foreign policy through strength and resiprocity approaches. Second, Trump's personality highlights hiis high level of self narcissism, lack of trust, and binary thinking which made him believe that U.S. needed to be priorized through his "America First" principle. Third, his worldview reveals his acknowledgment of strategic competition and the importance of hard power as the main tools in achieving US interest. Lastly, his leadership style reveals that he has shapped the U.S. decision making process to be in favor of his own instinct despite political constraint in his administration.
