Efisiensi Pengelolaan Sampah Selama Covid-19: Studi Kasus Universitas Indonesia
The waste sector is key to the implementation of the circular economy. Yet, the condition of Indonesia?s waste sector is packed with issues. This study examines the waste sector performance in light of the pandemic through an efficiency analysis of Universitas Indonesia?s waste system. This is a mixed method study, using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) for the quantitative efficiency analysis and in-depth interviews to related administrators for the qualitative technique. We found that during the practice of remote learning and working from home policies, on average, the waste system?s overall efficiency score deteriorates by 19.36%. Reduction also occurs when disaggregated into the composting and recycling efficiency when used as a comparison for the waste sector?s output. The composting efficiency mean score reduced from 52.51% to become 43.61%, while the recycling efficiency was 61.26% which declined to 4.22%. Qualitative interview shows that the sharp decline in recycling efficiency is brought by the lack of recyclable or inorganic materials produced during the pandemic. The composting efficiency remains high due to the existence of organic materials, such as leaves and grass. However, despite the decrease in the total waste amount in most unit, the efficiency still took a fall.Ada Tabel
